April 2013
#76 Irastorza

#76 Eric Irastorza who will turn 37 this August looked razor sharp this past Sunday (April 20th) while winning games 8 and 10 both nine points doubles,at Miami.Teamed with Rekalde in game 8,what a pleasure it was to watch that game.

Irastorza made his pro debut at Miami in 1998 and quickly made his way to the feature games. He hails from Bayonne,France and his mentor Michelena who has won close to 5 thousand games helped him with pointers.I think it's a fair statement that Irastorza is one of the best backcourters of all time.

Prior to turning pro Eric won two World Amateur Championships. After that while with Miami he has won just about every Tournament the sport has to offer.I would imagine that winning the 1999 N.A.J.F. Tournament of Champions with his mentor Michlena was a highlight even though he shared the title/W Daniel.Irastorza picked up three Citrus Singles Titles in the backcourt division, the last being in 2009.JaiAlaiUSA wishes Irastorza the best of luck in all his future efforts.

Foronda Signed, Gorrono Retires

Present Fort Pierce Frontcourter Foronda has agreed to terms and will re-join the Dania roster at the age of thirty-four for the start of the Summer Season which begins with the Wednesday evening May 1st performance. The former Dania Most

Wins Champion for the Summer of 2004 and 2005/2006 Winter Meet as well as winner of the Campeonato during the 2004 Summer Season previously played six seasons from the Summer of 2003 through the 2006 Summer Meet. Following 2006, Foronda played in the Basque Country until returning to the States in 2010 to join the Orlando roster.

The signing of Foronda was possible with the retirement of Gorrono who last played in November of last year. The thirty-seven year old native of Tampa, Gorrono joined the Dania roster in the Summer of 2003. The former Olando Jai-Alai pelotari enjoyed his finest season while a Dania roster-member during the 2005/2006 Winter Meet; the Frontcourter finished in the Top

Mikel A. Eguiguren(Egi)
Born July 14,1977
San Sebastian,Spain

Egi who hails from San Sebastian which is one of the most famous tourism destinations in Spain,it is located on the Bay of Biscany some 20Km's away from the French border.

In 2011 Egi was voted the # two Frontcourter by the fans and the #4 by his fellow players.

Egi as of this writing is playing at Fort Pierce and leading the roster in overall wins 31 to 20 over Olabe.Prior to coming to Fort Pierce Egi played on this very Orlando Roster and won the Overall Wins Championship 78 to 73 over Hernandez (Duke).Egi's win percentage was an excellent 28% overall,he also led in singles wins with 47 and had the best in the money stats,.461.

From 1996 until the winter of 2008,Egi played full time at Dania Jai-Alai,where he won several titles including the 2002 Cesta World Cup teamed with Elizegui. From what I have heard at the time of his leaving Dania he was the highest paid player on the roster. That seemed only fitting as many and I thought he was the best on it,with Arriaga not to far behind.

When I think of Egi as a player the thoughts that come to my mind is how aggressive a player he is,the great confidence he shows and what a pleasure it is to watch him play.He plays his game on whatever court he is on,from the fast Orlando to the slow Fort Pierce,he adjusts quickly, and needless to say has a golden glove.

One of Egi's hobbies is the Internet and he is the former owner of the website Jai alive which was located in Spain..He has been playing jai-alai since he was 9 and according to him the strongest part of his game is his Rebote, with the weakest his Dejada. It's a good bet that Egi will be a "Triple Crown Winner" by the time the Fort Pierce Season ends on April 28th,2012.

The Fort is open for Live Jai-Alai on Fri,Sat and Sunday.Simulcasting and Poker are available 7 days a week. Fort Pierce Website

High Cesta to Egi for all his accomplishments on the court.
